Mayor Receives MEDAL:

During the 2011 20th May Celebrations, Mayor Njong was awarded Knight of the Cameroon National Order of Valour.

KC adopts 2012 BUDGET:

The Kumbo Council (KC) has adopted a Budget of 847,000,000 FCFA for the 2012 Financial year. This budget has witnessed a growth rate of 13% from the 2011’s Budget which stood at 736,759,900 FCFA. Addressing the session, Mayor Njong Fonyuy Donatus outlined major achievements and activities of the Kumbo Council for 2012.

Apart from the normal yearly activities of the Kumbo Council, the Lord Mayor announced that the rehabilitation of the Shisong-Nkuv road is ongoing, thanks to funds worth 140 Million FCFA provided by the Government of Cameroon through the Ministry of Public Works. The Prime Minister - Head of Government authorized the Kumbo Council to do this work “en regie” i.e. using the Council labour and equipment. Work on this road began in November 2011.

In line with the ongoing decentralization process whereby some powers of the state have been devolved upon councils, the Mayor of Kumbo went on to highlight the various achievements in that line such as the construction of 2 classroom blocks at G.S Melim, the provision of 60 benches and equipment of Headmaster’s Office to G.S Melim and the distribution of the minimum packages to Government Primary Schools.

The Senior Divisional Officer for Bui - Mr. Ngone Ndodemesape Bernard congratulated Councillors for taking time to study the Budget right ahead of time. He also commended the Kumbo Council on the improvement in local revenue. Mr. Ngone further appreciated government action particularly on the provision of credits for the rehabilitation of the Nkuv road, hoping that the Kumbo Council will carry out the work well. He called on Councillors to work even harder as their term of Office would come to an end come 2012. He also hoped that Kumbo would equally be a chantier, following the Head of State’s declaration.

2 New Trucks at KC:

The Kumbo Council has purchased two new 20 ton Tippers. These tippers have come to add to the already acquired heavy road equipment (Grader, Front-end loader, and Compactor) that are presently rehabilitating and opening new roads in the Kumbo Municipality. Since Monday 20th May 2011, the Kumbo Council has been using them in spreading gravel on the already graded roads around Kumbo.

It is worth noting that roads in Kumbo are undergoing some sort of revolution, thanks to the acquisition of the Heavy road equipment: Grader, Front-end loader and Compactor and now the 2 Tippers. Every passable road in all neighborhoods in Kumbo are being widened and graded.

Work on the Nkuv Road:

Nkuv is a distant village within the Kumbo town. It is the bread basket of the Kumbo municipality but is know for its bad road. The Kumbo Council obtained a credit of 140.000.000 FCFA from the Ministry of Public Works for the rehabilitation of this road. His Excellency Philemon YANG, the Prime Minister Head of Government and the authority in charge of Public Contracts authorized the Kumbo council to do it “en regie”.

This implied that the Council could use its own labor and equipment. This will enable the Council to use her heavy road equipment and expertise to do more work and in a better way than a Private contractor. Work on this road began in November 2011.  A total of 24 kilometers of the road will be cleared and profiled, and 36 Ring culverts and 2 Minor bridges on the road will be constructed.
