Kumbo Council Adopts Development Plan

The Kumbo Council has adopted her Development Plan. This exercise was carried out in an Extra-Ordinary Session enlarged to include Heads of some 11 Sectorial Ministries of Bui Division.

Speaking at the Session, the Senior Divisional Officer for Bui - Mr. Ngone Ndode Mesape Bernard lauded the efforts of all stakeholders involved in the elaboration of the plan. He said the fact that the validation and adoption of the Council Development Plan is starting in Kumbo is a clear indication that Kumbo Council is a pace-setter for good things.

He further called on all actors of the Council Development Plan to effectively put its content into practice.

In his welcome address, Mayor Njong Fonyuy Donatus of the Kumbo Council disclosed the content of the Plan, which he said will be updated and adopted annually. The Council Development Plan the Mayor continued, has taken into account all the aspirations of the people of Kumbo, taken into consideration the policies defined by the state and the proposals from the various sectorial ministries. The Plan has as major components the Logical Frame Work the Strategic Plan, which constitutes the vision of the Council for the years ahead. In the plan, there is a triennial plan for the next three years i.e 2011, 2012, 2013, there is the Annual Plan that will be implemented in 2011.

Mayor Njong finally lauded the efforts of the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Programming that created the National Community Driven Development Programme known by its French acronym as Programme Nationale de Developpement Participative (PNDP) to accompany councils in the decentralization process.

Worthy of note is the fact that the Kumbo Council is among the first seven Councils of the Northwest Region whose Development Plan and other projects were developed with the assistance of the National Community Driven Development Programme which placed funds at the disposal of the Council to carry on with the Programme. Technically, PNDP accompanied the Kumbo Council to recruit a local service organization, a consulting firm called Positive Vision Cameroon (PVC) to conduct the elaboration of the Council Development Plan. PNDP has also recruited a Council Development Officer and a Council Officer in charge of Financial Management so that together with other Council personnel they can accompany the Kumbo Council to realize some of the activities highlighted in the Council Development Plan.
